Sean Barnes, Ph.D. is an accomplished professional with diverse experiences spanning government, academia, and the tech industry. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation from the University of Maryland. Prior to that, he obtained both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His academic career included seven years as a Professor of Operations Management in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. During this time, he conducted healthcare applications research and taught business analytics courses to graduate and undergraduate students. In 2019, Sean transitioned into the tech industry, joining the Studio & Creative Production group within Data Science & Engineering at Netflix. In this role, Sean has worked to deliver data-driven insights and decision support for the production, distribution, and promotion of content on Netflix's platform.
